Technical Project Manager-Disaster recovery

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Project Manager specializing in Disaster Recovery to lead critical IT infrastructure projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a 6-month contract position, with the potential for extension based on project requirements and performance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end project management, from initiation to closure, ensuring seamless execution of disaster recovery and IT infrastructure initiatives while aligning with business objectives and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Technical Project Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of IT projects, with a primary focus on disaster recovery strategies. Core responsibilities include:

• Project Initiation & Planning: Develop comprehensive project initiation documents, including project charters, management plans, stakeholder registers, and kickoff decks. Define detailed project plans encompassing timelines, resource allocation, budgets, and scope of work for IT implementations.
• System Assessment & Strategy Design: Conduct thorough assessments of existing systems and applications to identify gaps and opportunities. Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to design and implement robust solutions tailored to organizational needs.
• Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination: Lead kickoff meetings with vendors, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment. Coordinate the implementation of enterprise tools such as monitoring, backup, automation, ITSM, and DR orchestration tools. Manage dependencies across compute, storage, network, and application layers to mitigate risks.
• Project Execution & Governance: Oversee the rollout of disaster recovery and IT project strategies, ensuring adherence to SLAs and technical expectations. Plan and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and disaster recovery drills to validate system resilience. Govern change management processes for infrastructure and DR changes, ensuring seamless transitions.
• Performance Tracking & Reporting: Monitor project progress from initiation to closure, tracking time, cost, and scope metrics. Provide consistent updates to IT and business leadership, facilitating informed decision-making. Manage escalations proactively, resolving issues to maintain project momentum.
• Best Practices & Collaboration: Enforce industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout project execution. Foster collaboration between business stakeholders and IT teams to ensure timely project delivery and optimal outcomes.

Requirements & Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 7 years in project management, with a proven track record in delivering IT infrastructure and digital transformation projects, particularly in disaster recovery implementations.
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of cloud domains, networking, application architecture, and security tools. Familiarity with enterprise IT systems such as ERP, ITSM, backup and recovery tools, WAF, and monitoring solutions is essential.
• Project Management Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities. Preferred certifications include PMP, Scrum Master, or Agile Product Owner. Experience with project management tools like JIRA, MS Projects, Confluence, and Primavera is highly desirable.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to operate autonomously with high-level direction while leading cross-functional teams in agile environments. Proven experience in creating project charters, management plans, benefits reports, and status updates.
