Join Tabby as an Intern QA Engineer and Shape the Future of Financial Technology
Tabby is a rapidly growing fintech company revolutionizing financial services across the GCC. Our mission is to empower millions of users with seamless, secure, and innovative payment solutions. As a high-growth organization, we operate at the intersection of cutting-edge technology, stringent regulatory compliance, and unparalleled user experience. Our engineering teams work on high-load, security-critical systems that demand precision, reliability, and scalability—making quality assurance a cornerstone of our success.
This internship is not merely an educational experience; it is a full-fledged engineering role designed for early-career professionals who are eager to dive deep into the world of quality engineering. Unlike traditional internships focused solely on manual testing, this program offers real responsibility, meaningful contributions, and a pathway to a junior QA engineer role for high performers. You will be embedded within cross-functional engineering teams, working directly with production systems, and expected to adopt a system-wide perspective on quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Testing: Participate in comprehensive testing of product features, system integrations, and user-facing applications to ensure seamless functionality across all platforms.
- Automation and Manual Testing: Perform manual testing where necessary, but prioritize the development and maintenance of automated test suites for APIs, integrations, and end-to-end workflows.
- Test Framework Development: Contribute to the enhancement of existing test frameworks, tools, and test data to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Service Validation: Validate interactions between microservices, client applications, and external systems to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact users.
- Release and Regression Testing: Assist in release testing cycles and regression testing to ensure that new features and updates meet quality standards without introducing regressions.
- Bug Analysis and Root-Cause Investigation: Analyze reported bugs, verify fixes, and contribute to root-cause analysis to prevent future occurrences and improve system robustness.
- Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to enhance testability, reduce technical debt, and improve overall product quality.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
To thrive in this role, you should possess a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a passion for quality assurance. The ideal candidate will have:
- Programming Proficiency: Knowledge of at least one programming language, with a preference for Go. Familiarity with fundamental data structures, algorithms, and the ability to read and analyze existing code is essential.
- Testing Fundamentals: A solid understanding of unit testing concepts, principles, and frameworks (e.g., Go testing package, JUnit, pytest). Experience with mocking, stubbing, and deterministic vs. state-dependent behavior in programs is highly valued.
- System Architecture Knowledge: Basic understanding of client–server architecture, RESTful APIs, and gRPC. Familiarity with SQL for database interaction and querying is required.
- DevOps and CI/CD: Hands-on experience with version control systems (Git), SDLC, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred). Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies is a plus.
- Collaboration and Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-team environments. Comfort with POSIX/Unix-like environments and a proactive approach to problem-solving are critical.
- Professional Experience: Prior professional experience in QA, QC, QE, or SDET roles is advantageous, though not mandatory for motivated candidates with a strong technical foundation.
Program Structure and Expectations
This is a self-funded internship offered by Tabby, designed for Saudi nationals who are committed to a full-time engagement. While we welcome both current students and fresh graduates, this program is not part-time. Interns are expected to contribute at a full working-day pace, with occasional flexibility for classes or exams that can be aligned with mentors in advance. Performance, ownership, and active involvement in team activities are non-negotiable expectations.
As a distributed engineering team, we offer the flexibility to work from locations outside KSA, though office-first availability in Riyadh is preferred where possible. This internship is intentionally demanding, targeting candidates who are serious about fast-tracking their careers in quality engineering. High performers will have a clear pathway to transition into a junior QA engineer role upon successful completion of the program.
Join us and take the first step toward a rewarding career in quality engineering, where your contributions will directly impact the reliability, security, and success of a fintech platform used by millions.
