Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Arabic as a Second Language Teacher (Temporary) to join our esteemed educational institution. Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery & Instruction: Deliver high-quality, engaging, and effective Arabic language instruction aligned with the Misk curriculum and local educational requirements. Plan, prepare, and deliver schemes of work, lessons, and assessments that cater to diverse learning needs while maintaining rigorous academic standards.
- Student Progress & Assessment: Monitor, record, and evaluate student progress through regular assessments, standardized tests, and standardized documentation. Produce timely reports and grades in accordance with the school’s academic calendar and provide constructive feedback to students and parents during termly interviews.
- Classroom Management & Welfare: Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes effective teaching and learning. Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of students by adhering to safeguarding policies, responding to individual needs, and reporting concerns through the school’s information management system.
- Pastoral Care & Support: Act as a form tutor or homeroom teacher, providing pastoral support to students during registration, assemblies, and non-class times. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive school community.
- Collaboration & Professional Development: Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings, training days, and team planning sessions. Collaborate with educational counsellors, school nurses, and the learning support team to address student needs and implement tailored interventions. Stay abreast of developments in Arabic language teaching methodologies and digital learning tools approved by the school.
- Extracurricular & Community Engagement: Promote the Arabic language and culture within the school through co-curricular activities, cultural events, and community initiatives. Organize additional learning opportunities outside the classroom to enrich students’ linguistic and cultural experiences.
- Administrative & Compliance Duties: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, rewards, sanctions, and welfare concerns. Ensure compliance with school policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency evacuation procedures. Liaise with colleagues to facilitate smooth transitions for students transferring within or between schools.
- Cultural Sensitivity & Inclusivity: Work closely with the cultural committee to ensure that lesson materials and teaching approaches are culturally appropriate and inclusive. Respect and celebrate the diversity of the student body while fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect.
Qualifications & Skills
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in Arabic language, education, or a related field, along with a recognized teaching qualification. Fluency in both Arabic and English is essential, and prior experience teaching Arabic as a second language is highly desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong subject expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Work Environment & Expectations
This is a temporary position with the potential for extension based on performance and institutional needs. The role involves teaching up to 20 lessons per week, as directed by the school principal, and may include additional responsibilities such as supervising students during morning parades, dismissal, playtimes, and lunchtimes. The teacher will be expected to uphold the school’s values, contribute to its mission, and support its strategic objectives.
