Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be expected to fulfill a diverse range of academic and professional duties, including:

• Teaching Excellence: Deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, ensuring alignment with academic standards and industry demands. Develop and update curriculum content to reflect emerging trends and technological advancements in the field.
• Research Leadership: Lead and contribute to high-impact research projects in control systems, instrumentation, automation, and related disciplines. Publish findings in top-tier journals and present research at international conferences to enhance the university’s academic reputation.
• Mentorship & Supervision: Guide and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including supervising thesis projects, dissertations, and research assistants. Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages innovation and critical thinking.
• Collaboration & Partnerships: Engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations with faculty across departments and colleges, as well as with industry partners and governmental organizations. Strengthen KFUPM’s ties with national and international institutions to drive collaborative initiatives.
• Community Engagement: Participate in university committees, academic councils, and outreach programs to promote engineering education and professional development. Contribute to the university’s strategic goals by participating in accreditation processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Professional Development: Stay abreast of advancements in Control & Instrumentation Engineering through continuous learning, attending workshops, and pursuing professional certifications. Actively engage in professional societies and networks to enhance expertise and visibility in the field.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates for this position must meet the following criteria to be considered:

• Educational Background: A Ph.D. degree in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognized institution. For senior roles (Associate/Full Professor), a proven track record of significant research contributions and leadership experience is essential.
• Teaching Experience: Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level, with a strong commitment to student success and pedagogical innovation. Prior experience in curriculum development and assessment is highly desirable.
• Research Expertise: A robust portfolio of research publications in reputable journals and conference proceedings, with a focus on control systems, instrumentation, automation, or related areas. Evidence of securing research grants and leading funded projects is a strong plus.
• Professional Experience: Relevant industry experience or collaborations with industrial partners is advantageous. Familiarity with modern engineering tools, software, and laboratory techniques is required.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively. Proficiency in Arabic is a plus but not mandatory.
