Compute Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Compute Manager to lead the oversight, optimization, and modernization of our organization’s compute infrastructure. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, scalability, security, and performance of our server, virtualization, and cloud computing environments. As a key member of our IT leadership team, you will drive infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning while maintaining rigorous standards for security, governance, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Compute Infrastructure Management: Oversee the end-to-end management of enterprise compute infrastructure, encompassing physical servers, virtualized environments, and multi-cloud platforms to ensure seamless operations and alignment with business objectives.
• Performance and Availability Optimization: Lead initiatives to enhance the performance, reliability, and uptime of compute services, implementing proactive monitoring, load balancing, and redundancy strategies to mitigate risks and minimize downtime.
• Infrastructure Modernization and Automation: Spearhead the evaluation, adoption, and integration of cutting-edge technologies, including automation frameworks and cloud-native solutions, to streamline operations, reduce manual intervention, and accelerate deployment cycles.
• Capacity Planning and Scalability: Develop and execute robust capacity planning strategies to anticipate future demands, optimize resource allocation, and ensure the infrastructure can scale efficiently to support organizational growth and evolving workloads.
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery plans, including backup procedures, failover mechanisms, and recovery testing, to safeguard critical data and ensure rapid restoration of services in the event of an incident.
• Security and Compliance: Enforce stringent security protocols, governance frameworks, and operational standards to protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of compute resources. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Incident and Problem Management: Lead the resolution of infrastructure incidents, changes, and problems, leveraging root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurrence and enhance system stability.
• Vendor and Partner Coordination: Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and strategic partners to negotiate contracts, evaluate new solutions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective compute infrastructure services.
• Team Leadership and Collaboration: Mentor and guide IT teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align infrastructure initiatives with broader business goals.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and strategic vision. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware, or ITIL) are highly desirable.
• Professional Experience: A minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity. Prior experience in compute infrastructure, virtualization, or cloud environments is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in server infrastructure, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC), containerization, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Leadership and Soft Skills: Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, drive cross-functional collaboration, and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills are critical.
• Certifications: Relevant industry certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), or vendor-specific certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are advantageous.
