Financial Controller – Drive Strategic Financial Leadership in a Dynamic Insurance Environment

Key Responsibilities
As the Financial Controller, your responsibilities will span the full spectrum of financial oversight, including:
- Financial Operations Leadership: Manage day-to-day accounting functions with meticulous attention to the general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and timely month-end and year-end closures—ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to best practices.
- Regulatory and Statutory Compliance: Prepare and deliver IFRS-compliant financial statements, with a deep focus on IFRS 17 and IFRS 9—critical standards for insurance operations. Oversee all ZATCA compliance, including VAT returns, withholding tax, Zakat, and corporate income tax filings, while ensuring seamless integration and reporting for e-invoicing (Fatoorah) requirements.
- Regulatory Reporting and Submissions: Lead financial reporting and submissions to SAMA and other regulatory bodies, guaranteeing precision, timeliness, and full compliance with all filing deadlines.
- Internal Controls and Risk Management: Design, implement, and continuously monitor robust internal controls over financial reporting. Identify and address control gaps proactively, ensuring a resilient framework that mitigates risks and safeguards financial integrity.
- Insurance-Specific Accounting: Oversee technical insurance accounting, including premium and commission recognition, reinsurance balances, claims reserves, and solvency/capital adequacy calculations—collaborating closely with the actuarial function to ensure accuracy and regulatory alignment.
- Budgeting, Forecasting, and Performance Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, providing strategic direction and monitoring performance against targets. Conduct thorough variance analysis and prepare insightful commentary to inform decision-making at the executive level.
- Treasury and Cash Flow Management: Manage treasury functions, cash flow forecasting, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and financial stability.
- External Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, ZATCA audits, regulatory inquiries, and examinations, ensuring seamless communication and compliance.
- Process Innovation and Automation: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the finance function, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workloads.
- Strategic Reporting and Analytics: Develop detailed financial reports and analytics tailored for management and board review, providing actionable insights to drive business strategy.

Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you must possess:
- Proven Leadership in Finance: Extensive experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role, with a substantial background in the insurance sector. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams in dynamic environments.
- Regulatory Expertise: Hands-on experience with ZATCA compliance, including VAT, withholding tax, Zakat, and e-invoicing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In-depth knowledge of IFRS, IFRS 17, and IFRS 9, with practical exposure to insurance-specific accounting standards.
- SAMA and Compliance Proficiency: Strong understanding of SAMA regulatory reporting requirements and insurance-specific compliance obligations, ensuring adherence to all legal and operational frameworks.
- Analytical and Strategic Mindset: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with an unwavering attention to detail. Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
- Professional Certification: Hold a recognized professional qualification such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, CA, or CMA.
While not mandatory, the following will be highly valued:
- Technical and Digital Expertise: Experience with WAFEQ, finance automation, ERP implementation, or process digitization. Familiarity with data analytics and BI tools to enhance financial reporting and insights.

- Multilingual Proficiency: Fluency in both Arabic and English.
