Position Overview

TCS (MEA) is seeking a highly skilled Denodo Platform Administrator & Support Engineer to join our dynamic team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation, optimization, and security of our Denodo data virtualization platform, which serves as the backbone for our enterprise data solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Denodo administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning, along with a strong commitment to maintaining high availability and reliability standards in a 24/7 production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Administration:
  • Install, configure, and manage core Denodo components, including Virtual DataPort (VDP), Data Catalog, Scheduler Server, and Solution Manager.
  • Oversee environment setup, configurations, upgrades, and patching to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Administer user access, roles, and security configurations to align with organizational policies and compliance requirements.
• Platform Monitoring & Operations:
  • Monitor platform health using Denodo’s Diagnostic & Monitoring Tool, tracking query performance, cache usage, and system utilization.
  • Conduct daily health checks and system audits to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Ensure platform availability and reliability in strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Application & Service Support:
  • Provide L1/L2 production support for Denodo services, troubleshooting query failures, service downtimes, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Restart services, manage threads, and resolve runtime issues on Tomcat servers.
  • Analyze logs for VDP, Scheduler, and Catalog services to diagnose and rectify underlying problems.
• Metadata & Database Management:
  • Manage the metadata repository (SQL Server 2022), ensuring data lineage, catalog consistency, and metadata accuracy.
  • Monitor database performance, growth trends, and backup readiness to prevent data loss and ensure operational continuity.
• Performance & Optimization:
  • Optimize query execution, caching strategies, and federation performance to enhance response times for BI and analytics workloads.
  • Identify and mitigate bottlenecks in virtualized data access to improve overall system efficiency.
• Security & Governance:
  • Implement robust authentication and authorization controls to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies, lineage tracking, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit processes, access control mechanisms, and data security initiatives.
• Deployment & Change Management:
  • Facilitate code promotion and deployment via Solution Manager, ensuring seamless transitions between environments.
  • Manage configuration changes and synchronize environments to maintain consistency and reliability.
  • Adhere to ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management to uphold operational excellence.
• Documentation & Automation:
  • Maintain comprehensive runbooks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and operational documentation.
  • Automate routine tasks, monitoring processes, and health checks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Document system architecture, environment details, and best practices for knowledge sharing and future reference.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4–8 years of hands-on experience in Denodo platform administration and support.
• Strong technical expertise in Denodo architecture, data virtualization, and integration methodologies.
• Proven experience in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring of enterprise data platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server and metadata management principles.
• Hands-on proficiency with Tomcat, Java-based applications, and log analysis techniques.
• Experience working in 24/7 production support environments, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
