Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Laboratory Technician (Phlebotomist) to join our team, specializing in home-based specimen collection services. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality, patient-centered phlebotomy services across diverse age groups and medical conditions. The ideal candidate will ensure the integrity of collected samples while maintaining strict adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
The Laboratory Technician (Phlebotomist) will be responsible for performing venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures with precision and professionalism. Your duties will include:
- Specimen Collection: Conduct venipuncture and other collection procedures for neonates, pediatrics, adults, geriatrics, and patients with complex clinical conditions, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
- Home Collection Services: Perform scheduled home visits to collect samples, adhering to operational timelines and maintaining punctuality to support efficient service delivery.
- Patient Care & Identification: Verify patient identity, provide clear pre- and post-collection instructions, and ensure proper post-collection care to enhance patient experience and sample integrity.
- Sample Integrity & Transportation: Handle, store, and transport collected samples with utmost care to preserve their integrity and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory for accurate testing.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly follow infection control, biohazard handling, and safety protocols to mitigate risks and maintain a secure environment for both patients and staff.
- Documentation & Chain of Custody:
- Professional Conduct: Deliver respectful, empathetic, and patient-centered care during home visits, ensuring a positive experience and fostering trust with patients and their families.
- Equipment & Supply Management: Maintain and clean phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in optimal condition for each use.
- Incident Reporting: Promptly report any complications, adverse events, or patient concerns to the supervisor to facilitate timely resolution and continuous improvement.
- Business Development Support: Contribute to organizational growth by maintaining high service standards, enhancing patient satisfaction, and upholding the reputation of our home healthcare services.
- Confidentiality: Safeguard patient information in compliance with privacy regulations and company policies.
The responsibilities outlined above are not exhaustive, and the position may involve additional duties as assigned by management to meet operational and business needs.
Work Environment & Schedule
This role operates primarily outdoors, with 100% of time dedicated to home collection services as per the assigned schedule. The position follows a structured workweek consisting of six working days with one designated day off. Working hours are set at eight net hours per day, aligned with the shift schedule approved by the Head of Department. Home collection assignments conducted outside regular working hours will be compensated as overtime, in accordance with company policy and applicable labor regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Applied Medical Sciences or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Certification: Phlebotomy certification is highly preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on experience in phlebotomy, with a preference for candidates who have performed home collection services.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in office applications and health information systems to ensure accurate documentation and data management.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Arabic, with strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Additional Requirements: A valid driver’s license is essential to facilitate travel to patient homes for sample collection.
