Key Responsibilities

As a Faculty Member in Respiratory Therapy, your role will be pivotal in shaping the curriculum, mentoring students, and driving academic innovation. Your responsibilities will span multiple dimensions:

• Teaching and Clinical Education: Design and deliver engaging undergraduate courses through a blend of lectures, hands-on laboratory sessions, tutorials, and advanced simulation-based learning. Utilize cutting-edge technologies such as Blackboard (LMS), ExamSoft, and simulation platforms to create immersive learning experiences. Supervise students during clinical rotations in hospitals and healthcare facilities, ensuring they develop the clinical competence and professionalism required for modern respiratory care. Cover core subjects including cardiopulmonary assessment, mechanical ventilation, airway management, pulmonary diagnostics, critical care, emergency respiratory care, and evidence-based clinical practice.
• Student Support and Development: Provide personalized academic advising and mentorship to guide students toward success. Cultivate critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and ethical practice while emphasizing patient safety and professionalism. Offer timely, constructive feedback to support student growth and development.
• Research and Scholarly Activities: Lead impactful research in respiratory therapy, pulmonary medicine, critical care, or related healthcare disciplines. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences to advance the field. Collaborate with colleagues to foster a vibrant research culture and contribute to evidence-based curriculum development and continuous academic improvement.
• Academic Quality and Institutional Service: Actively participate in departmental meetings, academic committees, and accreditation activities to ensure program excellence. Prepare comprehensive course and program reports, maintaining full compliance with institutional policies and accreditation standards. Contribute to ongoing curriculum enhancement and quality assurance initiatives.
• Community Engagement: Engage in community outreach initiatives focused on respiratory health, smoking cessation, pulmonary disease prevention, and public health education. Collaborate with healthcare organizations and professional bodies to support service-learning activities and strengthen the impact of our program beyond the classroom.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must meet the following requirements:

• Education: A Master’s degree or PhD in Respiratory Therapy or a closely related discipline. Valid professional classification and registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), or eligibility for registration.
• Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with:
• Teaching experience in higher education, particularly in respiratory therapy or related fields.
• Clinical experience in respiratory therapy, critical care, emergency care, or pulmonary medicine.
• Experience in research, curriculum development, and academic reporting.
• Familiarity with simulation-based education and digital learning tools.
• Skills and Competencies: Demonstrable expertise in respiratory care practices, including cardiopulmonary assessment, mechanical ventilation, and critical care. Exceptional teaching, clinical supervision, and mentoring skills. Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard), ExamSoft, and educational technologies. Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal abilities. A commitment to academic excellence, research, quality improvement, and lifelong learning.
