About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Executive to join the team at Jumeirah The Red Sea. This pivotal role will play a critical part in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all operational areas of our luxury resort. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing robust HSE policies, conducting thorough inspections, and fostering a culture of safety among staff, contractors, and guests. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the operational excellence and sustainability of one of the world’s most prestigious hospitality destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Routine HSE Inspections: Perform systematic health, safety, and environmental inspections across all operational areas of the resort, documenting observations, tracking follow-ups, and ensuring timely closure of identified issues.
- Risk Assessment and Control Measures: Support departments in conducting workplace risk assessments and implementing effective control measures to mitigate health and safety risks, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.
- Incident Management: Assist in the investigation of incidents, accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and conditions, including comprehensive reporting, root cause analysis, and follow-up of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Contractor and Third-Party Compliance: Monitor contractor and third-party activities to ensure adherence to HSE requirements, permit-to-work procedures, and safe working practices, maintaining a secure and compliant work environment.
- Emergency Preparedness: Support the development and execution of emergency preparedness initiatives, including evacuation drills, emergency response exercises, equipment inspections, and departmental readiness reviews to ensure operational resilience.
- Policy and Procedure Implementation: Assist in the implementation and continuous review of HSE policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and incident management processes to align with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor environmental compliance activities, including waste management, chemical storage, spill prevention, environmental record-keeping, and regulatory documentation to uphold sustainability commitments.
- Beach and Waterfront Safety: Review safety signage, emergency access points, rescue and first aid equipment readiness, incident reporting procedures, and emergency response requirements to ensure the safety of guests and staff in beach and waterfront areas.
- Audit and Compliance Support: Participate in internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance assessments related to health, safety, environmental, and operational readiness, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date HSE documentation, including inspection reports, incident reports, risk assessments, training records, and compliance documentation to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Training and Awareness: Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions for colleagues, contractors, and third-party personnel to promote a culture of safety and compliance across the resort.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Security, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Human Resources, Recreation, and other operational departments to address HSE concerns, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
- Pre-Opening Support: Contribute to pre-opening readiness activities, including site walkdowns, departmental inspections, operational testing, and corrective action tracking to ensure a seamless and compliant launch of new facilities.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or an equivalent recognized Health & Safety qualification.
- A minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience in Health and Safety within hotels, resorts, hospitality, facilities management, construction, or similar operational environments.
- Proven experience in conducting HSE inspections, performing risk assessments, investigating incidents, managing contractor safety, and ensuring emergency preparedness.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements, including waste management, chemical handling, spill prevention, and regulatory documentation.
- Strong proficiency in spoken and written English, with excellent communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Previous experience in hospitality, resort, island, beach, marine, or pre-opening environments is highly desirable.
