Key Responsibilities

The Principal Civil Designer will be responsible for a wide range of critical tasks, including but not limited to:

• Project Leadership: Provide strategic direction and technical oversight for civil engineering projects, from conceptual design to final execution. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
• Design Excellence: Lead the development of detailed civil engineering designs, including grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and site development plans. Utilize advanced software and tools to create innovative and sustainable solutions that address the unique challenges of each project.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, environmental specialists, and other stakeholders to integrate civil design elements seamlessly into broader project frameworks. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and knowledge sharing.
• Client Engagement: Act as the primary technical liaison with clients, providing expert advice, presenting design proposals, and ensuring alignment with their vision and requirements. Build strong relationships with clients to enhance satisfaction and secure future business opportunities.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with local, regional, and international regulations, including building codes, environmental laws, and safety standards. Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to incorporate cutting-edge solutions into projects.
• Quality Assurance: Implement robust quality control processes to review and validate design documents, calculations, and specifications. Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
• Mentorship and Development: Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities to nurture talent within the team. Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PE, CEng) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design, with at least 5 years in a leadership or principal role. Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale civil infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, or similar tools. Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, including site grading, stormwater management, utilities coordination, and roadway design.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and manage multiple priorities with ease.
• Licensure: Valid professional engineering license (e.g., PE, CEng) is required. Additional certifications in project management or sustainable design are a plus.
