Quality Assurance Quality Control Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Assurance Quality Control Engineer – Civil to join our dynamic construction team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for upholding the highest standards of quality across all civil and structural works, ensuring full compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, client requirements, and contractual obligations. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in high-rise residential and commercial buildings, as well as hospitality projects such as hotels, resorts, or mixed-use developments. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining our reputation for excellence and delivering projects that meet both regulatory and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

The QA/QC Engineer will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of our projects by performing the following duties and responsibilities:

• Quality Management System Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, inspection plans, and quality control processes to ensure adherence to international standards and client requirements.
• Documentation Review and Compliance: Thoroughly review project specifications, IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings, method statements, material submittals, and shop drawings to verify compliance with approved standards and contractual obligations.
• On-Site Inspections and Monitoring: Conduct comprehensive inspections of civil, structural, and architectural works at all stages of construction, including concrete activities such as batching, placement, curing, and testing. Monitor site activities to ensure alignment with approved drawings, specifications, and international best practices.
• Coordination and Communication: Act as a liaison between consultants, clients, subcontractors, and third-party testing agencies to facilitate seamless inspections and quality assurance processes. Prepare and submit Inspection Requests (IRs), Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), and other quality-related documentation in a timely manner.
• Non-Conformance Management: Identify and document non-conformities (NCRs), recommend corrective and preventive actions, and verify their effective implementation to mitigate risks and ensure continuous improvement.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Witness and oversee field and laboratory testing of construction materials, including concrete, steel reinforcement, soil, waterproofing, and finishing materials. Ensure all tests are conducted in accordance with approved standards and project requirements.
• Method Statement and ITP Compliance: Verify the proper implementation of approved method statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) across all construction activities, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality benchmarks.
• Audit Participation and Compliance: Conduct internal quality audits and actively participate in external audits conducted by clients or certification bodies to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with construction, planning, MEP, and procurement teams to resolve quality-related issues promptly and efficiently, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Handover and Close-Out Support: Support project handover activities by preparing comprehensive quality dossiers, detailed snag lists, and close-out documentation to ensure a seamless transition to the client and end-users.
• Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Drive continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for enhancement in processes, materials, and execution methods, while maintaining strict adherence to ISO 9001 standards.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control within the construction industry, with a proven track record in high-rise buildings and/or hospitality projects such as hotels, resorts, or mixed-use developments.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of concrete, structural, architectural, and finishing works, along with familiarity with international construction standards (e.g., ACI, ASTM, BS, Eurocodes) and local authority requirements.
• Quality Management Systems: Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, including the ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and quality control methodologies.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, coordination, and documentation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of AutoCAD and quality management software is advantageous, enabling efficient review and reporting of quality-related data.

Preferred Certifications

While not mandatory, the following certifications will be considered a strong advantage:

• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification.
• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent certification.
• CSWIP (Certification Scheme for Welding Inspection Personnel), ACI (American Concrete Institute) certifications, or other relevant quality-related certifications.
• Valid engineering registration or licensure as applicable by local regulatory bodies.
