Cloud Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructures that align with our organization’s strategic objectives. Your expertise will drive the successful execution of cloud migration projects, optimization initiatives, and the continuous improvement of our cloud environments to ensure peak performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud architecture, security best practices, and hands-on experience with leading cloud platforms and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Architect and deploy secure, fault-tolerant cloud solutions that adhere to industry best practices and organizational standards. Develop robust Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity strategies to safeguard critical operations.
• Cloud Migration Leadership: Lead end-to-end cloud migration projects, including comprehensive assessment, meticulous planning, and seamless execution to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
• Cloud Environment Management: Proactively monitor, manage, and optimize cloud environments to ensure optimal performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and adherence to security policies. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to streamline and standardize cloud deployments.
• Security and Compliance: Design and enforce security controls, governance frameworks, and compliance measures to protect cloud infrastructure and sensitive data. Configure and manage FortiGate Firewalls, including security policies, VPNs, NAT, and advanced traffic inspection in both cloud and hybrid environments.
• Data Protection and Backup Solutions: Develop and manage enterprise-grade backup and restore solutions to ensure data integrity, retention, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Implement cloud-native or third-party backup tools tailored to organizational needs.
• AWS Administration and Optimization: Provide hands-on administration and optimization of AWS services, including EC2, Auto Scaling, VPC, NAT Gateway, ELB/ALB, ECR, ECS, S3, EFS, RDS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Lambda, IAM, and Billing/Cost Management. Leverage these services to build resilient, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
• Container Orchestration: Design, implement, and manage highly scalable and available Kubernetes clusters to support modern, containerized applications and microservices architectures.
• System Administration: Deliver expert-level technical support and administration for Windows Server environments and Linux-based systems, ensuring seamless integration and operation within the cloud ecosystem.

Required Experience & Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must possess a blend of technical expertise, practical experience, and professional certifications. The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, complemented by at least three years of hands-on experience in system operations and customer support within cloud environments.
• Extensive practical experience with AWS or Alibaba Cloud, including deep familiarity with their core services, architecture, and best practices for deployment and management.
• Proven expertise in administering FortiGate Firewalls, particularly in cloud or hybrid deployment scenarios, with a strong understanding of security policies, VPN configurations, NAT, and traffic inspection mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup solutions, whether cloud-native or third-party, ensuring robust data protection, retention, and compliance adherence.
• A solid foundation in networking, security principles, and cloud architecture best practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge to design and implement secure, high-performance cloud solutions.
• An AWS Solutions Architect – Associate certification (or an equivalent credential) is a mandatory requirement for this position.
• Highly preferred qualifications include practical experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code deployments.
• Additional expertise in Alibaba Cloud’s computing, storage, networking, security, container, microservices, database, and big data services will be considered a significant advantage.
