Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Estimation Engineer, your core responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical and analytical tasks, including:

• Document Analysis and Review: Thoroughly examine mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and tender documents to extract essential data for estimation purposes.
• Quantity Take-Offs and BOQ Preparation: Accurately prepare quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for mechanical works, covering HVAC systems, firefighting, plumbing, and infrastructure utility systems.
• Cost Estimation and Pricing: Develop precise project cost estimates and perform detailed pricing analyses to ensure competitive and realistic tender submissions.
• Supplier and Subcontractor Evaluation: Solicit, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to identify the most cost-effective and reliable options.
• Proposal Development: Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals for tenders and bidding submissions, aligning with project requirements and company standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, procurement, and project execution teams to validate project data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure seamless coordination throughout the estimation process.
• Risk and Opportunity Assessment: Analyze project risks and opportunities to optimize cost efficiency, enhance profitability, and mitigate potential challenges.
• Cost Database Management: Maintain and update cost databases, pricing records, and market rates to ensure accuracy and relevance in future estimations.
• Market Intelligence: Monitor local and international market trends, supplier performance, and pricing fluctuations to maintain competitive and up-to-date cost estimates.

Requirements and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical estimation and tendering within contracting companies, with a strong preference for candidates with exposure to infrastructure projects.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and tender pricing, supported by a track record of delivering accurate and timely estimates.
• Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the local and international construction markets, including supplier networks, pricing trends, and industry benchmarks.
• Technical Skills: Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications with precision, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
• Software Competency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and specialized estimation software to streamline the estimation process.
• Certifications and Language Skills: Professional certifications in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management are highly advantageous, with a preference for RICS certification. Fluency in Arabic is preferred, though not mandatory.
