As a Data Center Operations Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the physical and technical backbone of Google’s world-leading services. Key Responsibilities

In this hands-on technical role, your responsibilities will include:

• Hardware and Software Maintenance: Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, server components, and server software, including Google’s Linux cluster. Diagnose and resolve issues related to operating systems, computer/server hardware, and networking protocols.
• Infrastructure Deployment: Participate in or lead small project teams to deploy new data center infrastructure, including racks, networks, routers, switches, hubs, and bridges. Develop and execute project contingency plans to ensure minimal disruption.
• Physical and Technical Operations: Perform component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment, including disassembling end-of-life equipment for part replacement or maintenance. Ensure compliance with Google’s security standards for data integrity and media handling.
• Collaboration and Problem-Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams to address challenges, adapt to evolving requirements, and maintain high standards of operational excellence. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate will be essential in overcoming technical and logistical hurdles.
• Shift-Based Work: This role requires flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays, and shift-based schedules, ensuring 24/7 coverage of critical infrastructure.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you should meet the following minimum qualifications:

• Technical Proficiency: Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. Familiarity with component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and pulling over extended periods.
• Work Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work non-standard hours, including weekends, nights, holidays, and shift-based schedules as required.

Preferred qualifications include:

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• Completion of the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program or similar training.
• Two or more years of experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Prior experience in a data center or network operations center environment, or in roles such as systems administration, network deployment engineering, or help desk technician.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.

• Base salary ranging from $86,000 to $118,000 (USD) based on skills, experience, and education.
