Key Responsibilities

The Pharmacist will be responsible for a wide range of duties designed to optimize medication therapy and support patient well-being. These responsibilities include:

• Prescription Verification and Safety: Meticulously review and monitor prescriptions to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and safety for each patient, minimizing the risk of medication errors.
• Patient Counseling and Education: Provide expert guidance on medication dosages, administration methods (e.g., tablets, injections, inhalers), and potential side effects, empowering patients to manage their treatments effectively.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain precise, timely, and compliant records of all pharmaceutical activities, including patient interactions, medication dispensing, and inventory management.
• Clinical Collaboration: Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, conduct patient drug history reviews, and contribute to treatment decision-making processes to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
• Medication Management: Oversee the secure and proper storage of medications, conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with storage standards, and supervise the preparation and dispensing of sterile medications, such as intravenous solutions.
• Staff Supervision and Mentorship: Lead, train, and mentor junior pharmacists and support staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and accountability within the team.
• Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance: Develop and enforce clear guidelines for drug use, ensure adherence to center regulations, and actively monitor expenditure on pharmaceuticals to maintain cost-effectiveness.
• Continuous Professional Development: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in pharmaceutical research and development, integrating evidence-based practices into daily operations to enhance patient care.
• Safety and Risk Management: Promote a safety-first culture by identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring high-alert medications are properly labeled and secured, and maintaining the integrity of emergency medication supplies.
• Performance Improvement Initiatives: Lead unit-based performance improvement activities, contribute to clinical quality outcome indicators, and advocate for patient and family-centered care through collaborative multidisciplinary partnerships.
• Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate by identifying potential issues that may negatively impact care outcomes and proposing solutions to enhance the quality of pharmaceutical services.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
• Professional Licensure: Current Registered Pharmacist Licensure from the candidate’s country of origin, along with licensure from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of professional experience as a Pharmacist, with preference given to candidates with experience in a dialysis or hospital setting.
• Certifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the Saudi Heart Association or the American Heart Association.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in pharmaceutical software, strong analytical abilities, and exceptional attention to detail.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
