MEP Design Lead Mechanical ( Airport Exp )

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MEP Design Lead – Mechanical with specialized expertise in airport infrastructure projects to join our dynamic team at Egis in Jeddah. In this pivotal role, you will lead the mechanical engineering design process for large-scale airport developments, ensuring compliance with international standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering innovative, sustainable, and efficient mechanical systems that enhance operational performance and passenger experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and oversight in the mechanical design of HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and specialized airport systems such as baggage handling environments, terminal air conditioning, and critical infrastructure cooling.
• Project Coordination: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and airport stakeholders, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into the overall project design and construction phases.
• Design Development: Oversee the creation and refinement of detailed mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-leading software tools. Ensure designs align with project budgets, timelines, and sustainability goals.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure all mechanical designs adhere to international codes and regulations, including ASHRAE, NFPA, IATA, and local Saudi Arabian standards. Conduct thorough reviews to mitigate risks and ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability in airport operations.
• Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary technical liaison between Egis and airport authorities, contractors, and consultants. Present design proposals, address inquiries, and resolve technical challenges to maintain alignment with client expectations and project objectives.
• Innovation & Sustainability: Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices, such as energy-efficient HVAC systems, smart building controls, and renewable energy integration, to enhance the environmental performance of airport facilities.
• Team Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and designers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide technical training and support to ensure the team delivers high-quality outputs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, LEED, or CMVP) are advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within airport or large-scale infrastructure projects. Proven track record of delivering complex mechanical systems for airports, including terminals, runways, and support facilities.
• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM 360, and computational tools for load calculations and system simulations. Familiarity with airport-specific software (e.g., for baggage handling or terminal environments) is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Strong project management skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Certifications: Valid professional engineering license (PE) or equivalent is preferred. Certifications in energy management, sustainability, or airport-specific standards are highly desirable.
