Procurement Head – Steel Manufacturing Sector

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Procurement Head to lead the procurement function for Modern Factory for Steel Industries in Dammam. This pivotal role will be responsible for strategically sourcing raw materials, negotiating contracts, and optimizing supply chain operations to ensure seamless production and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in procurement within the steel or heavy manufacturing industry, coupled with exceptional leadership and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Sourcing & Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies to secure high-quality raw materials, equipment, and services at competitive prices while maintaining supply continuity.
• Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to build long-term partnerships, ensuring reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues promptly.
• Contract Negotiation & Compliance: Draft, review, and negotiate procurement contracts in alignment with company policies and legal requirements. Ensure adherence to contractual terms and mitigate risks associated with supplier agreements.
• Cost Optimization: Analyze market trends, pricing fluctuations, and procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or delivery timelines.
• Inventory & Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with production and logistics teams to align procurement activities with inventory levels and production schedules, minimizing excess stock and stockouts.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Set clear performance objectives and provide professional development opportunities.
• Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with local and international regulations, ethical standards, and company policies. Implement robust risk management practices to address supply chain disruptions.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between procurement, finance, operations, and senior management to align procurement goals with overall business objectives. Present regular reports on procurement performance, cost savings, and strategic initiatives.
• Sustainability & Ethical Procurement: Promote sustainable and ethical procurement practices, including sourcing from environmentally responsible suppliers and ensuring fair labor practices throughout the supply chain.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CSCP) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within the steel, manufacturing, or heavy industry sectors. Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and cost optimization.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP MM, Oracle SCM), ERP systems, and advanced Excel. Strong analytical and negotiation skills are essential.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities. Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the steel manufacturing process, raw material markets (e.g., iron ore, scrap metal), and global supply chain dynamics.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
