At Al-Futtaim Group, we are committed to fostering a culture of safety, sustainability, and operational excellence across our diverse portfolio of projects. As an HSE Engineer within our Engineering & Technologies division, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our workforce, assets, and projects by implementing robust Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols. This position is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in fast-paced construction environments and is dedicated to driving compliance, incident prevention, and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Senior HSE Officer and collaborating closely with project managers, subcontractors, and site personnel, you will ensure that all construction activities adhere to the highest safety standards. Your role will encompass a broad spectrum of responsibilities, ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of every operation:
- Site Leadership and Compliance Monitoring: Act as the on-site HSE representative, overseeing adherence to approved safety plans, procedures, and risk assessments. Conduct daily inspections to verify compliance with safe work systems and permit-to-work requirements, ensuring that all project personnel and subcontractors align with established protocols.
- Incident Management and Reporting: Investigate all accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences with diligence, submitting detailed reports to the HSE department within 48 hours. Promptly escalate non-conformances and safety violations to the Project Engineer, both verbally and in written reports, while expediting corrective actions to resolve issues efficiently.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as a liaison between the Project Manager, subcontractors, and HSE office, facilitating toolbox talks, safety meetings, and coordination sessions. Prepare and distribute comprehensive meeting minutes to all stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in safety initiatives.
- Emergency Preparedness and Training: Collaborate with the Project Manager’s team to handle emergency situations effectively. Develop and deliver on-job training materials to promote proactive QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) practices and asset management guidelines, empowering teams to uphold best practices.
- Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Generate daily safety inspection reports and track actions raised in meetings, reporting any delays or outstanding HSE actions to senior management. Review subcontractor safety reports, scaffolding inspections, and machinery test certificates to ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards.
- System Implementation and Auditing: Actively participate in HSE coordination meetings and safety forums, contributing insights to enhance QHSE and asset management systems. Continuously monitor and refine safety protocols to align with evolving industry standards and organizational goals.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on safety culture within one of the Middle East’s most respected and innovative organizations. If you are a detail-oriented professional with a passion for safety, compliance, and team leadership, we invite you to join our team and help shape the future of HSE excellence in construction.
