Assistant Manager – Systems (AsstMgr-Systems)

In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the seamless operation of our property management systems, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. As a key member of the leadership team, you will oversee system-related processes, troubleshoot technical issues, and collaborate with cross-functional departments to drive continuous improvement in our digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager – Systems will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:

• System Administration: Manage, maintain, and optimize property management systems (PMS), including Opera PMS, to ensure high availability, security, and performance. Monitor system health and address any technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide first-line technical support to hotel staff and resolve system-related queries or malfunctions. Collaborate with IT teams to escalate and resolve complex issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Training & Development: Conduct training sessions and workshops for hotel staff on system functionalities, best practices, and new software implementations. Foster a culture of continuous learning to enhance team proficiency in system usage.
• Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate manual processes, and implement system enhancements to improve operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
• Data Management & Reporting: Oversee data integrity, generate regular reports on system performance, and provide actionable insights to senior management. Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with external vendors, software providers, and internal stakeholders to evaluate system upgrades, negotiate contracts, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Compliance & Security: Ensure adherence to Marriott’s IT policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive guest and operational data.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications in system administration, PMS, or IT service management are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in IT systems management, preferably within the hospitality industry. Prior experience with Opera PMS or similar property management systems is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, networking fundamentals, and database management. Familiarity with cloud-based solutions and cybersecurity best practices is a plus.
• Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to translate technical jargon into clear, actionable instructions for non-technical staff.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues under pressure.
• Customer-Centric Mindset: A passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and a commitment to driving operational excellence through technology.
