Position Overview

We are seeking a distinguished and visionary Professor of Biomedical Sciences to provide academic leadership in graduate-level education, research innovation, and interdisciplinary program development. This pivotal role involves delivering high-quality teaching, leading cutting-edge research initiatives, and fostering a collaborative academic environment within King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) and Alfaisal University. The ideal candidate will be a thought leader in biomedical sciences, with a proven track record of securing competitive research funding, publishing in high-impact journals, and mentoring the next generation of researchers and academicians.

Key Responsibilities

The Professor of Biomedical Sciences will be responsible for the following core functions:

• Academic Leadership and Teaching: Develop, organize, and deliver graduate-level courses in specialized biomedical disciplines, including molecular biology, genomics, immunology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics. Design and implement curricula that meet international academic standards and comply with Ministry of Education (MOE) requirements, while contributing to the development of interdisciplinary programs and strategic academic initiatives.
• Research Excellence and Innovation: Establish and lead independent and collaborative research programs aligned with KFSHRC’s research priorities. Secure competitive research funding and publish a minimum of two high-impact, peer-reviewed papers annually in reputable journals, as per Alfaisal University’s policies. Collaborate with clinical, translational, and research teams across KFSHRC and Alfaisal University to drive impactful scientific discoveries.
• Mentorship and Supervision: Supervise and mentor PhD and MD-PhD students, ensuring their academic and research outcomes meet the highest standards. Provide guidance and support to junior faculty members, fostering their professional growth and development within the academic community.
• Academic Governance and Quality Assurance: Actively participate in academic governance by serving on departmental, school, and institutional committees. Contribute to accreditation processes, quality assurance initiatives, and program evaluations in alignment with MOE and National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) standards.
• Faculty Development and Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and inclusive academic environment by participating in faculty development programs and supporting interdisciplinary research collaborations. Engage in continuous professional development to stay at the forefront of biomedical sciences and contribute to institutional strategic goals.
• Compliance and Institutional Contributions: Adhere to all hospital-related policies and procedures while contributing to the broader educational, training, and development initiatives of KFSHRC and Alfaisal University. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of the institution.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this prestigious role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A PhD (or equivalent terminal degree) in a relevant biomedical science discipline from an accredited institution or a closely related field is required.
• Experience: A minimum of six years of post-doctoral experience in a relevant biomedical science discipline is essential. Candidates with a demonstrated history of securing competitive research grants and publishing in high-impact journals will be given preference.
• Leadership and Collaboration: Proven ability to lead research teams, mentor students and junior faculty, and collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary and institutional boundaries.
• Academic and Professional Standards: Commitment to maintaining the highest academic and professional standards, including adherence to institutional policies, accreditation requirements, and ethical research practices.
