Position Overview
PTC Therapeutics, a global biopharmaceutical leader with over 25 years of dedication to transforming the lives of individuals living with rare diseases, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Lead based in Riyadh. Key Responsibilities
As the Medical Science Liaison Lead, you will serve as a pivotal bridge between PTC Therapeutics and the medical community, ensuring that our innovative therapies and strategic initiatives are effectively communicated and implemented. Your role will encompass the following core responsibilities:
- Scientific Leadership and Engagement: Act as the primary scientific and medical expert for PTC Therapeutics’ portfolio within the assigned country, engaging with KOLs, clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations to facilitate early and accurate disease diagnosis. Your clinical expertise in disease states, clinical presentation, and differential diagnosis will be instrumental in identifying and addressing regional diagnostic gaps.
- Strategic Initiatives and Collaboration: Develop and implement innovative diagnostic initiatives that complement PTC’s portfolio, supporting programs from clinical trials through commercialization. Collaborate closely with clinical science and diagnostics teams in a matrix organization to enhance early disease recognition and diagnosis by healthcare providers.
- Knowledge Dissemination: Deliver, and where necessary, design fair-balanced, objective, and scientifically rigorous presentations, educational materials, and responses to unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare professionals, payors, and patient organizations. Ensure that all communications adhere to regulatory guidelines and company policies.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Establish and maintain long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with healthcare authorities, KOLs, and other key stakeholders. Represent PTC Therapeutics at national and regional medical meetings, symposia, and scientific sessions, actively participating in discussions, gathering insights, and cultivating professional connections.
- Advisory and Educational Programs: Identify, train, and engage speakers for advisory boards, symposia, and educational programs using regulatory-approved materials. Organize and execute regional medical initiatives, such as advisory boards, to address critical medical and scientific needs.
- Market Insights and Feedback: Provide strategic input to company management regarding alternative therapies, business development opportunities, risks, and client feedback. Serve as a trusted resource for understanding market dynamics and ensuring that PTC’s products are utilized safely and effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you will bring a strong clinical and scientific background, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for improving patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent degree, with a focus on rare diseases, neurology, metabolism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years in a medical affairs, medical science liaison, or similar role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Proven ability to engage with KOLs, healthcare professionals, and academic institutions, demonstrating strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of disease states relevant to PTC’s portfolio, including clinical presentation, diagnostic methods, and therapeutic interventions.
- Experience in developing and delivering scientific presentations, educational materials, and advisory board programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex scientific information into clear, concise, and actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
- Willingness to travel as required to support regional medical initiatives and stakeholder engagements.
