Position Overview
As a Saudi General Practitioner within our Dialysis Unit, you will play a critical role in the management and treatment of patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of clinical duties, from conducting comprehensive patient assessments to formulating and implementing individualized dialysis treatment plans. This position requires a strong commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and continuous professional development. You will also be expected to participate in unit rounds, contribute to clinical audits, and engage in ongoing education to enhance your expertise in nephrology-related procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment and Documentation: Perform thorough admission examinations for newly referred patients, accurately documenting clinical findings, vital signs, and mental health status. Conduct daily patient assessments and maintain meticulous clinical records to ensure comprehensive care.
- Dialysis Therapy and Treatment Planning: Provide chronic hemodialysis therapy through various vascular access methods while adhering to all safety protocols. Develop and implement individualized dialysis treatment plans in collaboration with senior physicians and nursing teams.
- Clinical Collaboration and Communication: Participate in unit rounds with consulting physicians, discuss patient treatment plans, and inform the Senior Physician of any significant changes in patients’ medical conditions. Follow instructions regarding individualized patient treatment plans and modify prescriptions as requested.
- Emergency and Critical Care: Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other emergency medical procedures when required. Initiate emergency treatment plans and ensure complete and accurate documentation to safeguard patient well-being.
- Laboratory and Clinical Monitoring: Monitor and analyze laboratory investigations, identify abnormalities, and initiate appropriate actions. Evaluate patients upon request from nursing staff and provide timely medical interventions.
- Continuous Professional Development: Participate in mandatory in-service education programs, including CPR certification, Health & Safety training, disaster preparedness, and fire drills. Engage in clinical audits, contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives, and attend departmental educational activities such as medical rounds, tutorials, and journal clubs.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, safety regulations, and clinical standards. Report incidents or situations that may compromise patient, visitor, or staff safety through the appropriate chain of command.
- Administrative and Team Collaboration: Deliver high-quality patient care in a respectful, compassionate, and professional manner. Collaborate effectively with nursing, clinical, and administrative teams, and perform administrative and clerical duties as required. Participate actively in the center’s on-call duty roster and provide coverage across dialysis centers within Saudi Arabia as needed.
Education and Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree from an accredited institution.
- A valid professional classification and license issued by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as a General Practitioner or Nephrology Resident.
- A valid license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia, in accordance with all applicable healthcare regulatory requirements.
