Senior Cost Controller – International Maritime Industries, Saudi Arabia

International Maritime Industries (IMI), a leading entity in the maritime sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cost Controller to join our dynamic team in Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, cost efficiency, and strategic financial management across our diverse maritime projects. Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Cost Controller, your core responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of financial and operational duties, including:

  • Cost Management & Analysis: Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive cost control systems to ensure projects remain within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Analyze cost variances and provide actionable insights to senior management to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses. Ensure compliance with international accounting standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements to uphold transparency and accountability.
  • Project Financial Oversight: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to assess financial feasibility, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising operational integrity. Provide strategic recommendations to enhance project profitability.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring alignment between financial targets and operational realities. Develop robust forecasting models to anticipate future financial trends and mitigate potential risks.
  • Process Improvement & Innovation: Evaluate existing cost control processes and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline financial workflows. Leverage technology and data analytics tools to drive informed decision-making and operational excellence.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between finance, operations, and executive leadership to communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities. Present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner to facilitate strategic discussions and decision-making.

Qualifications & Competencies

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and professional attributes:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA, or ACCA) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in cost accounting, financial control, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory capacity. Prior experience in the maritime, oil & gas, or heavy industries is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros), and financial modeling tools. Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, GAAP, and IFRS.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions to complex financial challenges. A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential.
  • Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated leadership in managing teams, fostering collaboration, and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate financial insights effectively.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
