Role Overview

Join Jazan Integrated Gasification & Power Company (JIGPC) as a Protection Engineer and play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our power generation and gasification facilities in Jazan, Saudi Arabia. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing protection systems that safeguard critical infrastructure against electrical faults, overcurrent, overvoltage, and other potential hazards. Your expertise will contribute directly to the uninterrupted operation of our facilities while adhering to national and international safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• System Design and Engineering: Develop, review, and approve protection schemes for electrical systems, including generators, transformers, transmission lines, and distribution networks. Ensure designs comply with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Protection Relay Configuration: Program, test, and maintain numerical and electromechanical protection relays to detect and isolate faults promptly. Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure compatibility and performance optimization.
• Fault Analysis and Troubleshooting: Investigate electrical disturbances, analyze fault records, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Utilize advanced tools such as fault recorders and simulation software to diagnose issues.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all protection systems meet local and international standards, including IEC, ANSI, and IEEE guidelines. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to mitigate hazards and enhance operational safety.
• Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and project engineering, to integrate protection strategies into new and existing systems. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and technicians on protection system principles, operation, and maintenance. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power/Electrical major) from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in power system protection engineering, preferably in gasification, power generation, or petrochemical industries.
• Proficiency in protection relay programming (e.g., Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider) and familiarity with SCADA systems.
• Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in fault analysis, relay coordination, and system modeling.
• Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English, with the ability to prepare technical documentation and present findings clearly.
• Professional certification (e.g., PMP, PE, or equivalent) is a plus.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable practices in all engineering activities.
