Consultant, Applications Architect (IT / IT Application)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Consultant, Applications Architect (IT / IT Application) to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining SAP assets, roadmaps, and complex architectures while providing expert guidance on the evaluation of new solutions. Your primary focus will be on aligning business, SAP, and IT strategies through robust business architecture practices. You will serve as a subject matter expert, offering architectural oversight throughout the design, build, and test phases of projects. This position requires a deep understanding of SAP systems, enterprise architecture principles, and the ability to influence senior leadership decisions to drive technology investments that support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

The Consultant, Applications Architect will play a critical role in shaping the technological landscape of our organization. Your responsibilities will include:

• Architecture Development and Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain complex SAP architectures, including target, reference, and high-level solution architectures. Create and manage SAP assets such as principles, roadmaps, and patterns to ensure consistency and alignment with business objectives.
• Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with strategic IT suppliers to influence SAP product strategy and solutions, ensuring they align with Marafiq’s business requirements. Collaborate with business stakeholders to establish clear connections between business goals, strategies, and the technology investments required to achieve them.
• Business and IT Alignment: Utilize business architecture practices to bridge the gap between business, SAP, and IT strategies. Regularly engage with analysts, process designers, application portfolio managers, business relationship managers, and SAP subject matter experts to evaluate and address business capability needs.
• Leadership and Decision Influence: Apply your deep understanding of architecture practices to articulate technology options, risks, and mitigation strategies. Influence senior leadership decisions and project direction by providing clear, data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Project Oversight: Review new business projects to determine their alignment with the enterprise architecture. Provide subject matter expertise and architectural oversight during the design, build, and test phases to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
• Quality Assurance and Governance: Utilize your expertise in architecture practices to assist in quality assurance evaluations for new and existing technologies. Drive the adoption of simple, SAP-standard solutions to minimize customization and facilitate effective architecture governance processes.
• Industry Trend Awareness: Maintain extensive knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies. Educate both IT and business teams on opportunities to build better target solution architectures that support and drive informed business decisions. Assist in defining the architecture and technology opportunities for the organization based on new and emerging technologies.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

• Education: A university degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in IT applications, preferably within a large industrial or utilities organization.
