Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Technician – Energy to join our dynamic team based in the UAE. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient operation of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment within our energy facilities located in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a broad spectrum of electrical installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks while strictly adhering to EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) guidelines. This position demands a proactive approach to continuous improvement, minimizing downtime, and optimizing plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
The Electrical Technician will play a pivotal role in maintaining the reliability and safety of our electrical infrastructure. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Electrical Maintenance and Repairs: Attend to breakdowns involving LV (Low Voltage) and MV (Medium Voltage) motors, LV switchboards, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), plant lighting systems, transformers, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), breakers, soft starters, and other critical electrical components. Execute planned, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities with minimal supervision to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Independently diagnose electrical failures and malfunctions in plant equipment, utilizing advanced technical skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Troubleshoot issues with minimal or no direction, ensuring rapid resolution to minimize operational disruptions.
- Spare Parts Management: Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (SAP) to order necessary spare parts from the warehouse, maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, and ensure timely procurement to support uninterrupted operations.
- Safety and Compliance: Conduct all maintenance activities in strict accordance with established safety procedures, plant operational requirements, and EHS guidelines. Identify and report any abnormalities or potential hazards to prevent incidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Process Improvement: Monitor recurring breakdowns and recommend modifications or upgrades to resolve underlying issues, contributing to enhanced equipment reliability and performance. Actively participate in initiatives such as 5S, Business Excellence, and Safety Programs to drive continuous improvement.
- Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and support to newly joined electricians, craft trainees, and contractors to facilitate their understanding of plant equipment and maintenance procedures. Collaborate with other departments to assist in the repair and troubleshooting of equipment, fostering a culture of teamwork and shared expertise.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, and replacements. Ensure that documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible for review by supervisors and management.
Qualifications and Competencies
To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications and possess the required skills:
- Educational Background: A Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field is essential. Completion of PEC (Professional Electrical Contractors) Craft Training is a mandatory requirement.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a heavy industry environment following the completion of your Diploma. Candidates with PEC Craft Training will be considered without prior experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. Strong familiarity with maintenance tools and IT systems is required to support efficient workflow management.
- Language and Communication: Excellent written and spoken English skills are necessary to effectively interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and instructions, as well as to communicate with team members and stakeholders.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated capability to analyze complex electrical issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions to restore equipment functionality.
- Adaptability and Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and support colleagues across different departments to achieve common operational goals.
Work Environment
The Electrical Technician will be based in the UAE and may be required to travel to Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of a rotational pool-based assignment. The role involves working in industrial settings, including power plants and energy facilities, where adherence to safety protocols and operational standards is paramount.
