Join Our Team as a Traffic and Roads Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Traffic and Roads Engineer to join our dynamic team at SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering in Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in designing, developing, and implementing innovative traffic management systems and road infrastructure solutions that enhance mobility, safety, and sustainability across the region. As a key contributor to our projects, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients and communities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Traffic and Roads Engineer, your core responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical and project-related tasks, including:

  • Traffic Analysis and Modeling: Conduct comprehensive traffic studies, including data collection, analysis, and modeling to assess current and future traffic patterns. Utilize industry-standard software tools to develop accurate simulations and forecasts that inform infrastructure planning.
  • Road Design and Planning: Lead the design of road networks, intersections, roundabouts, and other transportation facilities, ensuring compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and best engineering practices. Optimize designs to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance user experience.
  • Traffic Management Systems: Develop and implement intelligent traffic management systems, including signal timing optimization, variable message signs, and adaptive traffic control strategies. Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate these systems into existing infrastructure seamlessly.
  • Safety and Sustainability: Prioritize road safety by incorporating safety audits, risk assessments, and mitigation measures into your designs. Advocate for sustainable practices, such as low-impact development and green infrastructure, to minimize environmental impact and promote long-term resilience.
  • Project Coordination and Execution: Work closely with project managers, architects, urban planners, and construction teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, and timeline. Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to construction and post-implementation evaluation.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Permitting: Ensure all designs and construction activities adhere to local, national, and international regulations, codes, and standards. Prepare and submit necessary documentation for permits, approvals, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with government agencies, municipalities, private sector partners, and community groups to align project objectives with broader transportation goals. Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences through reports, presentations, and workshops.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification in traffic engineering or transportation planning is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering, road design, or a closely related discipline, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Synchro, VISSIM, or similar platforms for design, modeling, and analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions to traffic-related challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and present technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with local and international traffic regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines relevant to road infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure in Saudi Arabia is highly desirable.
