Value Engineering Expert

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Value Engineering Expert to lead and drive Value Engineering (VE) initiatives across the full lifecycle of our projects. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive VE studies, facilitating structured workshops, and identifying innovative opportunities to optimize costs without compromising functionality, quality, safety, or performance. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering high-impact solutions that align with our strategic objectives and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership in VE Initiatives: Spearhead Value Engineering studies and workshops throughout the design and delivery phases of projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and client requirements.
• Facilitation of FAST Workshops: Conduct Function Analysis System Technique (FAST) workshops to systematically evaluate project functions and uncover value improvement opportunities.
• Cost Optimization and Analysis: Perform detailed cost optimization, Life Cycle Costing (LCC), and cost-benefit analyses to identify the most economically viable solutions while maintaining project integrity.
• Structured Optioneering: Develop and evaluate engineering alternatives using structured optioneering methodologies to ensure informed decision-making and value maximization.
• Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA): Lead MCDA processes to assess technical and commercial options, balancing performance, cost, and risk factors.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, commercial, and project controls, to integrate VE principles into project execution.
• Design Review and Recommendations: Critically review engineering designs and propose enhancements that reduce costs while preserving functionality, quality, safety, and performance standards.
• Reporting and Presentation: Prepare comprehensive Value Engineering reports, presentations, and recommendations to secure client approval and drive informed decision-making.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Support design consultants and project teams during all project stages—concept, preliminary design, detailed design, and Issued for Construction (IFC)—ensuring seamless integration of VE strategies.
• Compliance and Governance: Ensure adherence to SAVE International standards, client-specific requirements, and project governance procedures to maintain consistency and excellence in VE practices.

Minimum Requirements

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Certification: SAVE International Certified Value Specialist (CVS) is highly preferred. Associate Value Specialist (AVS) certification may also be considered.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 12–15 years of hands-on experience in Value Engineering, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure, transportation, rail, aviation, highways, or mega construction projects.
• Workshop Leadership: Proven track record in leading Value Engineering workshops and managing multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of FAST methodology, Life Cycle Costing (LCC), Cost-Benefit Analysis, Risk Assessment, and Value Management principles.
• Industry Exposure: Experience collaborating with international engineering consultants, Project Management Consultants (PMC), or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) organizations.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional report writing, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities to effectively communicate VE findings and recommendations.
