Waste Management Supervisor

Position Overview

Premium Support Facility Management Ltd (PSFM) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Waste Management Supervisor to oversee and optimize waste management operations within our facilities. This critical role is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, maintaining operational efficiency, and fostering sustainable waste reduction practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in waste handling, and a commitment to environmental stewardship. Proficiency in Arabic is advantageous, and prior experience in facility management or contracting environments is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Oversight: Supervise daily waste collection, segregation, transportation, and disposal activities to ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.
• Compliance Management: Monitor and enforce compliance with local, regional, and national waste management regulations, including hazardous waste disposal protocols.
• Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor a team of waste management staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and efficiency.
• Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve waste reduction, recycling initiatives, and operational workflows to enhance sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare accurate and timely reports on waste generation, disposal methods, and compliance metrics for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and municipal authorities to ensure seamless waste management operations and resolve any arising issues.
• Safety and Risk Management: Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize workplace hazards, conduct regular inspections, and address any safety concerns promptly.
• Budget and Resource Management: Assist in budget planning for waste management operations, including procurement of equipment, supplies, and disposal services, while optimizing resource allocation.
• Technology Integration: Utilize waste management software and tracking systems to monitor performance, track waste streams, and generate data-driven insights for continuous improvement.

Core Requirements

• Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Waste Management, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in waste management, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role within facility management or contracting environments.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in waste management software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), and data analysis tools. Familiarity with hazardous waste handling and disposal regulations is a plus.
• Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with internal teams, external vendors, and regulatory authorities.
• Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational challenges, adapt to changing regulations, and implement innovative solutions to improve efficiency.
• Safety and Compliance Focus: A proactive approach to safety, environmental compliance, and sustainable practices. Knowledge of local waste management laws and international standards is highly desirable.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is advantageous for effective communication in diverse operational environments.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and operating waste management equipment. Valid driver’s license may be required for certain roles.
