Key Responsibilities

As the **Chief Accountant**, you will collaborate closely with the **Finance Manager**, operational departments, corporate finance teams, auditors, and external stakeholders to ensure robust financial governance, compliance, and strategic insights. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining financial integrity while driving the financial health of Desert Rock.

• Financial Operations & Reporting
• Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring all financial transactions adhere to **IFRS standards**, company policies, and hospitality-specific accounting practices.
• Lead the preparation of **monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings**, guaranteeing adherence to deadlines and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Scrutinize journal entries, accruals, amortizations, and adjustments to maintain data integrity before finalization.
• Monitor and resolve discrepancies in the **general ledger**, ensuring financial records reflect the true financial position of the property.
• Financial Controls & Compliance
• Strengthen **internal controls** to protect company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
• Conduct and reconcile **monthly account reviews**, including bank statements, balance sheet accounts, intercompany transactions, and clearing accounts, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support **VAT, tax, and statutory reporting**, ensuring all obligations are met with precision and efficiency.
• Facilitate **audit processes** by preparing schedules, compiling documentation, and addressing inquiries from both internal and external auditors.
• Accounts Payable, Receivable & Cash Management
• Oversee **Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable** processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices, collections, and payments.
• Review supplier payments, employee reimbursements, petty cash, and expense claims to ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls.
• Monitor **cash flow requirements** and support treasury and banking activities to optimize liquidity and working capital.
• Analyze receivables, payables, and cash balances to enhance working capital efficiency and financial stability.
• Budgeting & Financial Analysis
• Collaborate with department heads to develop **annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans**, aligning financial strategies with operational goals.
• Conduct **financial performance analyses**, identifying variances against budgets and forecasts, and recommending actionable insights for improvement.
• Prepare **financial reports, dashboards, and KPI analyses** to empower data-driven decision-making at both operational and strategic levels.
• Identify **cost-saving opportunities, revenue enhancement strategies, and operational efficiencies** to support the financial growth of Desert Rock.
• Strategic Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as a trusted financial advisor to department heads, providing insights that drive operational excellence and profitability.
• Engage with **external stakeholders**, including auditors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure transparency and compliance.
