Key Responsibilities

• Data Analysis and Interpretation: Lead the analysis of large-scale genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic datasets to identify biomarkers, genetic variations, and other critical insights that inform clinical decisions and research directions.
• Algorithm Development: Design, implement, and optimize bioinformatics algorithms and pipelines to process high-throughput sequencing data, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and scalability for diverse research and clinical applications.
• Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with geneticists, clinicians, data scientists, and IT professionals to translate biological questions into computational solutions, providing expert guidance on best practices in bioinformatics and data management.
• Tool and Pipeline Implementation: Deploy and maintain state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools and workflows, including those for variant calling, gene expression analysis, and pathway enrichment, to support ongoing research and clinical genomics initiatives.
• Quality Assurance and Validation: Ensure the reliability and reproducibility of bioinformatics analyses through rigorous validation, benchmarking, and adherence to industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and mentorship to junior team members and stakeholders on bioinformatics methodologies, tools, and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
• Project Leadership: Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines while delivering high-impact results.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a strong foundation in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field, combined with practical experience in a healthcare or research environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, as well as familiarity with bioinformatics software and databases (e.g., BLAST, UCSC Genome Browser, Ensembl).

• Education: A minimum of a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related discipline is required. A Ph.D. is preferred for candidates with significant research experience.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis, including alignment, variant calling, and functional annotation.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Singularity).
  • Familiarity with machine learning and statistical modeling techniques applied to biological data.
