About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Administrator to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities

The GCP Administrator will play a pivotal role in the following areas:

Infrastructure Architecture and Deployment

• Design and Implementation: Architect, deploy, and manage complex, large-scale Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions on GCP, including virtual machines (Compute Engine), storage solutions (Cloud Storage, Filestore), and advanced networking components (VPC, load balancers, Cloud CDN).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize industry-leading tools such as Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager to automate the provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management of cloud resources, ensuring consistency and reducing manual intervention.
• Migration Strategy: Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of large-scale migrations from on-premise data centers to GCP, including multi-tiered application and database workloads, with minimal disruption to business operations.

Advanced Operations and Troubleshooting

• Tier 3 Support: Serve as the highest level of escalation for system-level issues, conducting in-depth root cause analysis (RCA) to resolve complex incidents that cannot be addressed by lower-tier support teams.
• Proactive Monitoring and Optimization: Implement advanced monitoring and logging solutions using GCP’s Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging tools. Proactively identify and mitigate potential issues to prevent outages and ensure optimal performance.
• Capacity and Performance Management: Oversee capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource utilization to align infrastructure capabilities with seasonal and long-term business demands, ensuring cost efficiency and scalability.

Security and Governance

• Policy Enforcement: Define, implement, and enforce organizational policies, Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles, and security best practices across the GCP environment to safeguard critical assets.
• Compliance and Auditing: Ensure adherence to organizational, industry, and regulatory compliance standards by conducting regular audits and deploying automated compliance controls to mitigate risks.
• Data Protection: Develop and maintain robust data encryption, backup, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies to protect against data loss, system failures, and cyber threats.

Automation and Project Leadership

• Drive Automation: Champion automation initiatives to streamline recurring and manual tasks, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing human error.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Collaborate with DevOps teams to design, implement, and optimize Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines that automate deployment and configuration processes.
• Strategic Guidance: Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, offering expert guidance on cloud best practices, architecture, and strategic initiatives to drive innovation and growth.

Collaboration and Mentorship

• Inter-team Collaboration: Work closely with cloud architects, DevOps engineers, security teams, and other stakeholders to align on standards, requirements, and solutions that meet business objectives.
• Mentorship and Coaching: Mentor junior-level engineers, fostering their technical growth and helping them develop a deep understanding of complex cloud technologies and best practices.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for architectures, operational procedures, and standards to ensure knowledge sharing, continuity, and compliance across the organization.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following skills and experience:

GCP Administration Skills

• Compute Engine: Expert-level proficiency in managing virtual machines (VMs), instance groups, and instance templates, including performance optimization and cost management strategies.
• Networking: In-depth understanding of GCP networking components, including Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), subnetting, peering, load balancing, Cloud CDN, Cloud Interconnect, and Cloud VPN.
• Storage: Extensive knowledge of GCP storage solutions, such as Cloud Storage (with object lifecycle management), Persistent Disks, and Filestore, tailored to meet diverse workload requirements.
• Containers and Orchestration: Expert-level experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Docker, and container security best practices, including advanced deployment strategies like blue-green or canary deployments.
• Databases: Hands-on experience managing GCP’s managed database services, including Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, and Firestore, with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Observability: Advanced skills in using the Cloud Operations suite (formerly Stackdriver) for monitoring, logging, and tracing, including the configuration of complex alerts and dashboards to proactively address issues.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• IaC Tools: Expert proficiency with Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager to provision, update, and manage cloud infrastructure efficiently and consistently.
