The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic AI Engineer to join our Risk and Financial Crime team—a critical and data-intensive domain within our organization. This role offers a unique opportunity to tackle open-ended challenges, identify gaps in our current systems and partner platforms, and develop innovative AI-driven solutions to enhance fraud detection and prevention. Your Responsibilities

• Problem Framing and Solution Development: Tackle complex, open-ended problems by defining clear objectives, identifying relevant data sources, and constructing practical solutions that deliver measurable value.
• Model and Analytics Development: Design and implement advanced models, including anomaly detection, behavioral profiling, and alert prioritization, to strengthen our fraud detection capabilities.
• Performance Evaluation and System Optimization: Assess the effectiveness of existing systems and partner platforms, using data-driven insights to refine configurations and drive continuous improvement.
• Technical Collaboration with Partners: Engage with external technology partners as a technical counterpart, rigorously evaluating their outputs to ensure alignment with our standards and regulatory requirements.
• Internal Tooling Development: Create scalable internal tools that empower our risk and operations teams to perform more efficiently and effectively.
• Innovation with Modern AI: Leverage emerging AI technologies, including large language models (LLMs), to automate manual workflows and enhance decision-making processes.
• Regulatory Compliance and Explainability: Ensure all AI models and systems are explainable, auditable, and compliant with SAMA’s stringent data and model governance expectations.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will bring the following qualifications and attributes:

• Technical Proficiency: 2-3 years of hands-on experience building and deploying data or machine learning systems in production environments. Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, along with the ability to work with large, complex, and real-world datasets.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: A natural inclination toward curiosity, resourcefulness, and a passion for solving uncharted problems. You understand the distinction between a model that performs well in a controlled environment and one that delivers real-world impact.
• Technical Communication: The confidence to engage in technical discussions with external partners, articulating your ideas clearly and advocating for robust solutions.
• Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with SAMA’s expectations regarding data privacy, model governance, and auditability is a strong advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

While prior experience in risk, fraud, anti-money laundering (AML), cybersecurity, or other adversarial domains is beneficial, it is not a prerequisite—we provide comprehensive training to bring you up to speed. Additional desirable skills include:

• Experience with real-time or streaming data pipelines.
• Expertise in graph or network analysis for detecting complex fraud patterns.
• Knowledge of payments infrastructure and transactional data structures.
