Key Responsibilities

The Road Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of engineering tasks, including but not limited to:

• Design and Planning: Develop detailed road designs, including geometric layouts, drainage systems, and pavement structures, using advanced engineering software and tools. Ensure designs align with project specifications, safety standards, and environmental considerations.
• Project Execution: Oversee the construction and implementation of road projects, providing technical guidance to contractors and ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address any deviations or challenges.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all road engineering activities comply with local and international regulations, including safety, environmental, and construction standards. Prepare and submit necessary documentation for approvals and permits.
• Technical Analysis: Perform feasibility studies, traffic impact assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate project viability and optimize resource allocation. Utilize data-driven insights to recommend improvements and innovations in road infrastructure.
• Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, urban planners, and construction managers, to integrate road engineering solutions with broader infrastructure projects. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical expertise to support team objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a specialization in transportation or road engineering. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., P.E., PMP) is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in road engineering, with a proven track record in designing, constructing, or managing road infrastructure projects. Experience in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, is highly desirable.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, or similar tools. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is advantageous.
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local and international road engineering standards, codes, and regulations, including those set by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics in Saudi Arabia.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to assess complex engineering challenges and develop practical, efficient solutions. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance are essential.
• Communication and Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, present technical reports, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a valuable asset.
• Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
