Key Responsibilities

The Senior Materials Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of technical and operational duties, including:

• Material Selection and Evaluation: Assess and recommend appropriate materials for metro infrastructure projects, balancing performance requirements, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability to ensure long-term durability and efficiency.
• Material Testing and Analysis: Conduct rigorous material testing and analysis using advanced laboratory equipment and industry-standard methodologies to verify compliance with project specifications and international standards.
• Specification Development: Develop, refine, and implement material specifications, testing protocols, and quality control procedures that align with international standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) and project-specific requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, construction, and procurement teams to address material-related challenges, optimize performance, and ensure seamless project execution.
• Failure Analysis and Corrective Actions: Investigate material failures through root cause analysis, develop corrective measures, and implement preventive strategies to mitigate future issues and enhance reliability.
• Supplier and Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with material suppliers and vendors to ensure consistent quality, timely delivery, and adherence to contractual obligations.
• Technical Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, documentation, and recommendations for project stakeholders, management, and regulatory bodies to support informed decision-making.
• Regulatory Compliance and Safety: Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols to uphold the highest industry benchmarks.

Qualifications and Skills

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education and Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in materials engineering, with a proven track record in material selection, testing, and quality assurance for construction and infrastructure applications.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of material properties, behavior, and performance characteristics, particularly in large-scale infrastructure projects such as metro or rail systems.
• Laboratory Proficiency: Hands-on experience with materials testing equipment and laboratory procedures, including mechanical testing and non-destructive testing methods.
• Software Competency: Proficiency in CAD software and materials modeling tools for design, analysis, and simulation purposes.
• Standards and Compliance: Solid understanding of international material standards, codes, and specifications (ASTM, ISO, or equivalent) and the ability to apply them in practical scenarios.
