Role Overview
The PMIS Specialist will play a pivotal role within the Project Controls team, with a primary focus on the implementation, administration, and continuous management of the Project Management Information System (PMIS). Initially, the role will involve overseeing the PMIS implementation partner, ensuring the system is rolled out effectively, and subsequently driving its adoption and expansion across the broader portfolio management organization. The target platform for this initiative is SAP, specifically the Project Systems (PS) and SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM) modules.
Key Responsibilities
- System Implementation and Management: Act as the client-side technical reference point during the PMIS implementation, ensuring the solution is configured to meet project controls and reporting requirements.
- Collaboration with Implementation Partners: Coordinate with the implementation partner to define data structures, workflows, reporting templates, and system integrations that align with organizational needs and objectives.
- Progress Monitoring and Risk Management: Track implementation progress, manage milestones, identify and mitigate risks associated with the system rollout, and provide regular status reports to stakeholders.
- Portfolio-Wide Rollout and Adoption: Develop and execute a phased expansion plan for the PMIS across the portfolio management organization, managing change initiatives and ensuring consistent user adoption.
- Data Integrity and Governance: Manage large and complex datasets, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency throughout all reporting cycles and ad-hoc requests.
- Standardization and Documentation: Develop and document PMIS standards, procedures, and data governance practices to maintain system efficiency and compliance.
- Training and Support: Provide comprehensive training and ongoing technical support to team members and end users across the portfolio, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and proficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in program management information systems (PMIS), data reporting, and database management, with a strong focus on enterprise project management tools such as SAP.
- Implementation Experience: Hands-on experience supporting or managing the implementation of enterprise project management tools in a client-side role, particularly with SAP PS or SAP EPPM.
- Data Management and Reporting: Advanced skills in Power BI, including data modeling, dashboard design, and the ability to extract and analyze data from SAP sources. Strong SQL skills for database querying, data management, and reporting automation.
- Project Controls Knowledge: Solid understanding of project controls principles, including cost management, scheduling, earned value management (EVM), and risk assessment.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 9-15 years of relevant professional experience in a PMO or PMC environment is highly desirable.
- Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in English. Proficiency in Arabic is a strong asset.
